I'm not sure what I should say about this... it was a pretty personal picture, but by the 10th hour that I've worked on this whatever profound meaning I had in mind all went out the window (however, I do hate crying in public).
(//edit: it took longer than 10 hours )
As far as technique goes, I was going for more of the style that other Asians enploy with their fantasy/character art; more focus on colour, lots of anal retentive details in the costume, atmospheric background etc. Hope you like.

After painting some darker-than-my-usual stuff, I've done something all light and pretty
Anyway, first, sorry about the rather uninspired title; this is a cover for a new novel series by Hotupub, this is cover no. 1 so yeah. The girl is the love interest of the main character. She has long hair, other wise, I had a lot of freedom with her look, only thing is I have to make her *really* pretty. I think I got it so I am happy.
All painted in PS, with some final texture work in Painter.
Two character illos for the same book, these are subject to change

Cover art for Hotupub's Ice Wind 2. Just a pretty girl on a horse. She's a nomad princess from the East, I'm told. The background took me a long time; there's a strange pain in my left shoulder now. : Anyway, comments are appreciated as usual, thanks for looking.
Also, two character portraits for the same book:

Aphril

I was going to post this here but I forgot. Anyway, thanks to those who helped me in the WIP forum, I don't think I changed the BG much since the last WIP, the dragon however has slightly different colour. I'm unlikely to make any more changes to this, but any crits I can still take, perhaps to keep in mind for future paintings.
This is Aphril the Sapphire dragon. She's a mischievous one, always curious about something and asking endless questions... I tried to giver her a playful and sexy look, although it's hard *not* to make her look sexy with an outfit + whip like that! Oh and she has a 19" waist. The next and possibly the last one, will be the Diamond dragon, fancy that.
Well this is Audreia, I painted her for the cover of DM6. That feels like such a long time ago. :O
I probably need to hand it in tomorrow so please crit away now!

In The Garden By The Sea

Commission for Lissa A. Ledbetter and characters copyright to her, art copyright to me. Kevan is looking at the water goddess Shelle from up in the tree...
"This was surely Shelle. The woman in front of me carried the same aura as the one that had so enchanted me the previous night. Her soft blue hair was now plaited into braids and weaved in an elegant design. The creases in her lavender gown were like ripples in water. With every second that passed she seemed to grow lovelier."
Well I ended up painting her a teal dress which was fine as well This was sketched in PS, painted in Painter, except the darker leaves in the tree, and lots of colour/lighting corrections in PS sprinkled throughout the process & at the end (much thanks to Sub again). I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
